Seaside

We just got back from our annual trip down to Seaside Oregon with the Whitney family. We had a really great time especially the night when I won 3 times in blackout fascination (that's 2,970 points!). We spent a total of 4 days at the beach which was not enough, but we made the best of what time we had. We watched a meteor shower, played in the ocean, and ate plenty of Speckled Manateenies!

The Manateeny is the smaller version of a Manatee which is an ice cream concoction only found at Zingers in Seaside. A Manateeny consists of 1 scoop of peanut butter ice cream with peanut butter and hot fudge topping. YUM! You will not find a Manateeny on the menu at Zingers, but the owner will know exactly what to do, and he might be so impressed with your knowledge of secret Zingers ice cream code that he will give you a bigger scoop.

This time at Zingers Trev decided to change up the manateeny by using oreo cookie ice cream instead of peanut butter ice cream. It was delicious! The owner of Zingers told us about how a little girl used to come to his "shoppe" every summer and order the same thing (an orca). An orca is chocolate ice cream with hot fudge and marshmellow cream topping. One summer she changed it up and ordered an orca, but with oreo ice cream instead of chocolate. She named it The Speckled Orca. So we named our new favorite dessert The Speckled Manateeny.
